Law 41 of 48 laws of power by Robert Greene says avoid stepping into a great man’s shoe. He says if your predecessor, parent is a very talented person change your course of life, away from his field of expertise and create your own identity, don’t give anyone any chance to compare your talent with his/her.

Even though some shine in the same field but mostly we will see that people have a very strong tendency of comparing, “he is nothing like his father, he sings but….” they will then go and hear someone who sings worse than him but whenever they will hear him they will instantly drag his father in. If you are extremely talented you will make your mark otherwise it will be smart if you chose some other field to prove your worth, talent! I will say it is a brilliant suggestion if one can follow, after all, talent is a gift, so…
