When the senses of a sage come in touch with material world they often overpower the wisdom and force it to their direction.(My translation from Bengali, the originals is in Sanskrit, a language unfortunately almost Latin for me)
As per Geeta – Here the condition of a sage, who is trying to become one with God, is compared with a boat. Just like wind sometimes forces a boat to its direction- the senses when they come in touch with material world, over power wisdom and force it to their direction.
But once a sage has found confirmation from his heart that all he wants is God his senses withdraw themselves voluntarily and his wisdom stabilizes in God.
